CHAIRWOMAN İDDA NUSHABA MAMMADOVA APPILE TO THE CONGRESSMAN BRAD SHERMAN FOR HIS STATEMENT ABOUT SUMGAIT EVENTS

Dear Bradley James Sherman,

Unfortunately that your statement does not reflect the truth. There are many historical documents about Sumgait events. The organizers of Sumgait events were armenian Eduard Robertovich Grigoryan and another armenian. As a result of the riots 32 people died. 26 of them were Armenian and 6 were Azerbaijanis. During the incidents many Azerbaijani families hid armenians in their flats. Armenians themselves admitted it. The main purpose of the Sumgayit incidents was the implementation of the plan of groundless territorial claims by Armenia against Azerbaijan. This is what happened. 250,000 Azerbaijanis who living in Armenia have been deported from their historic lands, in 1988. Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized territory. More than 1million Azerbaijani were became refugees and displaces. Armenia committed a genocide against Azerbaijanis in Khojali. The Khojali Genocide has been officially recognised by more than ten countries. Armenia committed military crime killing 613 civilians of Khojali, including 106 women and 63 children. The integrity of Azerbaijan is being recognized by all the world. UN Security Council adopted 4 resolutions – 822, 853, 874 and 884 which require immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces in 1993. Armenia ignores the resolutions of UN Security Council. During the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, 3868 Azerbaijani citizens were missing as a result of the military operations led by the Armenian armed forces. 872 of them were reportedly captured and taken hostage by Armenian servicemen during intensive military operations. Of these, 591 are military men and 281 are civilians. Among the civilians there are 29 children, 98 women, 111 elderly people. During the conflict all international norms were violated by Armenia.

Dear Bradley James Sherman ,

This is the historical truth of Azerbaijan. We would like your comment for this.
